This is an incredible model!
Painting her was a massive pleasure, this kit gives you a combination of elements you would not normally get on one miniature. These range from pale skins tones to tree bark, foliage, metal, clothing, gems and even ethereal elements. One of the most fun challenges was getting that subtle but elegant skin tone right; using many thin layers to get the right effect was key. One awesome feature is the way in which the left arm mutates into a wooden claw, so blending skin into wood was a skill I have started to learn but not yet mastered.
I tried blending for the first time.
I was happy with the results.
The Realm of Ghyran, where Alarielle makes her home, is currently assailed by the forces of Nurgle and I wanted this corruption to be evident in my paint scheme. I chose autumnal colours and slightly matted her armour to suggest a being in her twilight as the story suggests.
The miniature is so good it inspired me to try blending for the first time. I applied the technique to the cloak and I am happy with the results, more practice will make it even better though.
Please share your miniatures with us via our Flickr pool here. Some may find their way onto this very blog.
