Ant’s sylvaneth

Having the chance to paint the new sylvaneth was such a pleasure, they?re a great addition to the range.  Painting them was going to be a fun challenge, one I accepted with open arms.

The style of painting for the wood effect was inspired by nature itself ? looking at wild trees helped to give me a lot of ideas. I started with dark base colours and layered stage by stage, through lighter browns with intermittent shades in between. This gave me the aged look which looks fantastic on these large new miniatures.

To pick out the foliages sculpted on the models I decided to pick an autumn colour scheme, the variety of bright yet complimentary colours allowed me to represent a Wargrove in action during the Realmgate Wars.

One of the fun things about painting the new miniatures was the amount of extra details sculpted on the models With strange insectoid creatures and different type of fungus living on the bark I was able to spend a long time picking out some really characterful elements.

I really can?t wait to play with this colourful force against fellow hobbyist Kris? Nurgle army. We?ll be recreating some of the epic battles from the Realmgate Wars books. We?ll be posting a battle report or two here, do keep your eyes peeled…
