Warhammer World has regularly changing Guest Displays, showcasing the amazing personal projects created by fans of the hobby, and the latest display is Gareth Cosby?s Cult Mechanicus Armies on Parade display.
Gareth’s Armies on Parade is a dramatic combination of display board and miniatures, with his long-standing fascination with the Adeptus Mechanicus truly shining through. “It goes back to the classic Codex Imperialis from 1992 and the John Blanche and Jes Goodwin artwork inside.”
Determined to paint the army in the classic Martian colours, Gareth then had to plan the board’s look around that choice. Inspired by the Void Shield Generator, he found creating his vision quite a challenge “Eventually I gave up looking for cogs, and did a lot of measuring to cut out my own to use as the base”. They can actually be rotated, and moving one makes all four turn!
With the rusted metal and dark earth carried over onto his model’s bases, Gareth’s display is not only highly cohesive, the bright red and white miniatures really stand out by contrast, which is a good feature for miniatures on a display board.
Although the project was just to paint (mostly) Skitarii forces, Gareth has dropped hints about adding to it with a Mechanicum collection, also on a cog base which would interlock with this display… Watch out, as we’ll probably have that on display if he does complete it!
- On display April 7th – June TBC
