The release of the Munitorum Armoured Containers was great for me as I wanted to start a scenery collection for Warhammer 40,000 and needed some products to kick off with. They looked pretty cool, seemed relatively straightforward to paint, and wouldn?t take too much time (quite an important factor for me).
I did a quick test model and realised that I could get these all painted in a jiffy. So, if you?re interested in getting some scenery on your gaming table quickly, here?s how I did it:
Spray undercoat the containers Mournfang Brown.
Overspray the containers Mechanicus Standard Grey, leaving some Mournfang Brown in the recesses.
Overspray the containers Corax White, leaving some Mechanicus Standard Grey in the recesses.
Once this was dry I cut up a sponge and dry-sponged (is that even a thing? – Ed) the following colours to add weathering:
Fire Dragon Bright
And that was all the painting they needed. To finish them off I applied a couple of transfers from the Skitarii transfer sheet (a real expert would have done this before the weathering – Ed).
Painting red containers:
To add some variety I painted a couple of the containers red. I used the same techniques with the exception that I basecoated the model with Mephiston Red spray and skipped straight to the sponge work. I dry-sponged (still not a thing – Ed) the same colours, but added an additional final application of Ulthuan Grey.
